Exokit, a young company from Saint-Brieuc established a few months ago in the port of Le Légué, designs and manufactures kits for fitting out vans and small utility vehicles. Custom-made solutions that come at the perfect time, as the converted van is becoming one of the most popular nomadic holiday options for the French.
In Saint-Brieuc, a small company has managed to keep up with the times... by offering custom-made fittings for vans and small utility vehicles.
After just 18 months of activity, Exokit is already a success. "We've moved 4 times," smiles Morgan Barroux, the company's founder. "We've gone from 460 square meters to over 1000 square meters. We've hired 3 people for the workshop and 2 people for the offices. We are now 7 and we plan to recruit 5 or 6 more people to cope with future developments and continue to grow the business.
"Everything is designed from A to Z (...). We choose our furniture, we make our technical, mechanical, and assembly innovations, etc... Everything is cut by hand and finished by our craftsmen, and assembled in our vehicles up to homologation." Morgan Barroux, founder of Exokit
Perhaps even more nomadic than the motorhome, the converted van is truly on the rise... with an added ecological awareness that resonates here...
"We try to limit wood waste," explains Raphaël Guigo, Morgan Barroux's associate at Exokit. "We try to use as many sustainable materials as possible. Generally speaking, our energy is renewable; it's a lot of small things like that where we try to be our best."
An agility that makes it possible to meet customer demand. Like this former craftsman who doesn't regret converting his van... into a leisure vehicle. "They are always attentive," he rejoices. "I had a small modification to make. Immediately, they were available, truly good people."
Here, products are adjusted to the millimeter, a rigor that doesn't impact the workshop's atmosphere... quite the opposite. "Even with clients, we joke around, it's always cool, there's no stress," says Samuel Carbillet, an employee. "It's great to work here."
Today, requests are flowing in from all over France and even beyond... A success that now needs to be managed while dealing with the shortage of wood and the surge in prices of certain raw materials.
