Our story

From our own vans to a manufacturing workshop

Exokit grew out of the vans we converted for ourselves, and then a meeting with a professional van converter.

The Exokit team in the Saint-Brieuc workshop
  1. 2005

    A first van for kitesurfing

While studying in a marine design office, Morgan converted a Renault Master to spend his weekends by the water between kitesurfing sessions. That is where the idea of making furniture kits for vans was born.

  2. 2019

    A shared workshop

After the surfboard factory where they worked closed down, Morgan and Raphaël rented a workshop together for their own projects: surfboards and CNC machining. Morgan designed the conversion of his Fiat Ducato L4H2 in 3D, with six seats and six berths. Raphaël converted his Volkswagen T5 L2H1.

  3. 2020

    Meeting a van converter

While fitting a type-approved bench seat in Morgan's Ducato, a professional van converter noticed the project's 3D plans. The idea came back to the fore: making furniture kits for vans and large vans. A CNC machine was ordered.

  4. Spring 2020

    The first Exokit unit

The machine was due to leave the factory on 18 March 2020. The lockdown of 17 March delayed its delivery. A few weeks after it was installed, the first unit was machined and shown to the van converter. His feedback confirmed the project.

  5. 2020

    Homad, the fitting workshop

Homad opened at the Port du Légué in Saint-Brieuc. This full-service conversion workshop (insulation, electrics, type-approval) fits Exokit kits and takes part in testing every new unit.

  6. 2026

    A complete Van range

Around ten platforms are covered, from the Renault Trafic to the Fiat Ducato. With the rear U-shaped bench seat and the rear right-hand pull-out bed (comb-slat system), the Van range now offers every common layout: side unit, U-shaped bench seat, transverse unit, pull-out bed and camping box. Our kits are fitted by a network of workshops in France and Europe.

How we make it

How an Exokit kit is made

We don't sell generic furniture that you have to cut down to size. Each kit is designed for a specific van body and arrives already shaped to fit it.

  1. 3D design

Our design office draws each unit from the 3D file of the van body. Panel curves, wheel arches and fixing points are taken into account from the very first plan.

  2. CNC machining

The birch plywood panels are cut and drilled on our CNC router in Saint-Brieuc. Assembly marks are engraved on the back of each part.

  3. Finish and hardware

Our joiners apply the finish you choose: raw birch, oiled or laminate. Hinges, drawer runners and screws are supplied with every kit.

  4. Delivery

The kit ships assembled or flat-packed, on a pallet, across France and Europe. Assembly instructions and dimension sheets are available online.

What is Exokit?

Exokit is a French manufacturer of furniture kits for van, large van and small van (MPV) conversions. The company designs and machines its kits in its workshop in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany, and sells them to private customers and professional conversion workshops across France and Europe.

Where is Exokit furniture made?

In our workshop at 10 quai Armez, Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d'Armor). 3D design, CNC machining, finishing and kit preparation all take place there.

Which vehicles does Exokit make furniture for?

Around ten platforms: Volkswagen Transporter T5 and T6, Renault Trafic 3 and its equivalents, Citroën Jumpy, Peugeot Expert, Opel Vivaro and Toyota Proace, Ford Transit Custom, Mercedes Vito, and, among large vans, the Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper and Peugeot Boxer. Renault Master, Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit and Volkswagen Crafter are fitted out on request (quote). Our camping boxes also fit small vans (MPVs). Browse kits by vehicle.

What material is Exokit furniture made from?

Birch plywood, CNC-machined. It comes raw, oiled (light oak, golden oak, ebony, concrete grey) or laminate (plain white, fjord green). Floors are 9 mm birch plywood, and wall and ceiling panels are 5 mm poplar plywood.

What are the lead times?

Our furniture is made to order. Allow 4 to 5 weeks for a unit made to fit your vehicle, and 5 to 7 working days for the removable Fix & Go modules. The current lead time is shown at the top of the site.

Can I assemble an Exokit kit myself?

Yes. Each kit comes with its hardware (hinges, runners, screws, assembly bits) and its assembly instructions. The assembly instructions and dimension sheets are available online. You can also have your kit fitted by an installer from the Exokit network.

Does Exokit deliver outside France?

Yes, on a pallet, within the European Union, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Norway. Shipping costs depend on the weight and the destination country; they are calculated in the basket.

Does Exokit work with professional van converters?

Yes. Many of our customers are conversion workshops, rental companies and coachbuilders. They get consistent furniture from one vehicle to the next, ready to fit, which saves them building the furniture themselves. Join the network from our trade area.

How are Exokit and Homad connected?

Homad is a bespoke van conversion workshop based at the Port du Légué in Saint-Brieuc. It is run by the same founders, fits Exokit kits and takes part in testing new furniture.
