VW T6 L2H1 "Louis" converted by Van Passion: Vicenza oak Exokit, VASP and rental

When a professional converter comes to train in our workshops in Saint-Brieuc, it results in solid projects designed to last. This is exactly the case with Van Passion, a specialized workshop located near Lyon, which offers sales, repairs, rentals, and conversions of vans. Their latest creation, named "Louis," is a Volkswagen T6 L2H1 specifically converted for rental, with a demanding set of specifications: maximum comfort, durable finishes, and VASP approval for legal rental.

Van Passion: a converter trained by Exokit, near Lyon

Van Passion is a workshop in Lyon that has made a name for itself in the van conversion industry by combining technical expertise and a professional approach. To refine their skills in van conversions, the team came to train directly in our workshops in Saint-Brieuc, where we shared our installation methods, finishing tips, and approach to modularity.

Today, Van Passion offers a comprehensive service around vans: sales of converted vehicles, mechanical repair and maintenance, rental of equipped vans, and of course, custom conversions. Their rental activity pushes them to design particularly robust conversions, as the vehicles must withstand varied, sometimes intensive, use without showing signs of weakness. "Louis," their latest rental van, is the perfect example.

A Volkswagen T6 L2H1 intended for rental: maximum requirements

This VW T6 L2H1 was converted with a clear objective: to be rented regularly, by different users, in varied conditions. This imposes precise technical and regulatory constraints:

  • The vehicle must be VASP approved to be legally offered for rent as a camper van
  • The conversion must offer maximum comfort to attract tenants and ensure good reviews
  • Materials must be resistant, easy to clean, and not easily soiled, as the vehicle will be used intensively
  • Electrical installation and plumbing must be reliable, with no risk of breakdown in the middle of a trip

Van Passion met these requirements by building a complete, solid conversion, designed for the long term.

Natural insulation and custom Exokit lining

Before any furniture installation, Van Passion carefully insulated the vehicle. The chosen protocol combines three proven natural materials:

  • Sprayed cork applied directly to the bodywork, to manage condensation and provide the first level of thermal insulation
  • Sheep wool to fill cavities, for thermal and acoustic comfort in all seasons
  • Felt on the uprights and doors, for a soft and uniform finish

For the interior lining, Van Passion installed our complete lining pack for Volkswagen T6, including the floor, side walls, and ceiling, all machined to precisely fit the T6 L2H1.

Van Passion then customized these linings by applying a light oak tinted linseed oil and creating decorative grooves on the ceiling. These grooves create an elegant visual effect that resembles mountain cabin paneling, while adding depth and warmth to the interior. This type of custom finish demonstrates the expertise acquired during their training in our workshops.

The furniture: left side unit and clic-clac bench in Vicenza oak

For the furniture, Van Passion chose a classic and proven layout: a Exokit left side unit combined with a classic 120cm clic-clac bench. Everything was made in Vicenza oak laminated plywood finish, a choice perfectly suited for a rental vehicle.

Vicenza oak laminate offers three major advantages for intensive use:

  • A warm and neat appearance, which immediately gives a good impression to tenants
  • A surface resistant to scratches, stains, and moisture, essential for successive rentals
  • Minimal maintenance: a simple wipe with a sponge is enough to clean, without requiring specific products or periodic sanding

This finish is exactly what is needed for a rental van: durable, easy to live with, and visually appealing in the long term.

Complete kitchen with sink-hob combination

In the left side unit, Van Passion integrated a CAN FL1401 sink-hob combination, which brings together a sink and two cooking burners in a single compact unit. This configuration frees up space while offering a truly functional kitchen, essential for a rental vehicle where users must be able to cook comfortably.

The sink is located at the front of the unit, easily accessible from inside the van. An external shower head with a hot water mixer has also been installed at the rear, allowing for rinsing sports equipment, washing feet after the beach, or enjoying a quick outdoor shower.

Complete Victron electrical system with solar panel

For electrical autonomy, Van Passion installed a complete Victron system, including an auxiliary battery, inverter, charge controller, and a solar panel on the roof. This type of installation has become a standard in quality vans, and it is even more essential in a rental vehicle, where users must be able to recharge their devices, use the refrigerator, and light up without risk of breakdown.

The Victron system also offers precise monitoring of battery charge via a control screen, allowing tenants to manage their consumption transparently.

Refrigeration and plumbing: Indel B CR42 and complete circuit

Van Passion equipped "Louis" with an Indel B CR42 refrigerator, a 42-liter compression model known for its reliability and low consumption. Positioned in the side unit, it remains easily accessible and allows for storing enough food for several days of autonomy.

Regarding plumbing, the installation includes:

  • A fresh water circuit supplying the front sink and the rear shower head
  • A water heater system providing hot water to the shower head mixer
  • A grey water circuit properly evacuating wastewater

This complete installation makes "Louis" a perfectly autonomous van, capable of going for several days without needing to hook up or find a water point.

A VASP approved rental van, ready to go

This VW T6 L2H1 "Louis" converted by Van Passion perfectly illustrates what a trained and experienced workshop can produce. The conversion is complete, coherent, robust, and designed to withstand intensive rental use. The Vicenza oak laminated finish ensures long-term durability with no maintenance effort, the Victron and Indel B equipment ensure autonomy, and VASP approval allows for legal rental.
