Long format, precise template
The Transporter T5/T6 in L2H1 version offers a larger interior volume — ideal for a camper van or an equipped delivery van. This ceiling is CNC cut to the L2 template, with pre-cuts engraved on the back for the dome light, the conduit, and adaptation to a bulkhead.
T5 and T6 compatibility
The T5 (up to 2015) and T6 (from 2015) generations share the same roof dimensions — a single L2H1 template covers both. Before ordering, simply confirm your length (L2) and height (H1).
Material and lightness
5 mm poplar weighs about 3 kg/m² — for an L2 ceiling, the total weight remains under 8 kg for both panels. This leaves room for insulation, furniture, and equipment without approaching the Transporter's roof load limits.
Installation
First, insulate the entire roof, then dry-fit the two panels to adjust the gaps. On the L2, be sure to screw into each transverse rib to avoid any slight bending in the center of the rear panel. Self-drilling screws 3.5×25 mm, spacing ~25 cm.
Technical questions
Can a solar panel be installed by going through the ceiling? Yes — plan for a waterproof cable gland (roof seal) passing through the sheet metal and the ceiling. Poplar is easy to drill.
Is the ceiling sufficient to hold a Webasto or Eberspächer? No — forced-air heaters must be attached to the metal reinforcements of the body, not to the wooden ceiling.
What insulation thickness do you recommend? 30 to 50 mm depending on the available height in your Transporter. 40 mm rock wool + 5 mm poplar = very good thermal and acoustic results.
