Transit Custom L2H1 MK1: The Long Format

The L2H1 version of the Ford Transit Custom MK1 offers a larger interior volume than the short version—particularly suitable for camper van conversions, van life setups, or mobile workshops. This ceiling is CNC cut to the exact template of the L2H1 MK1.

Pre-cuts and Features

The engraved markings on the back cover standard configurations: front and rear ceiling lights, cable ducting along the ceiling, and adaptation for a partition between the cab and cargo area.

Material: 5 mm Poplar

For the L2 version, the total ceiling length for both panels is approximately 2.70 m. The 5 mm poplar maintains a reasonable weight (~8 kg for the entire set)—a manageable weight for a single person with a little preparation (sawhorses or occasional help for installation).

Installation Tips for the Long Version

Screw into every available transverse rib to prevent any central sagging of the rear panel. On Transit Custom L2 models, the ribs are well-distributed—expect 4 to 5 fixing points per panel.

Technical Questions

Is this ceiling compatible with the Transit Custom L1H1? No—the panels are of different lengths. An L2 ceiling cannot be adapted to an L1.

Recommended insulation for a converted van? Rock wool (good ratio of thermal insulation + acoustic + fire resistance), or spray polyurethane foam for hard-to-reach areas.
