5 mm Poplar: lightweight, flexible, easy to install

5 mm poplar plywood is the reference material for utility vehicle ceilings. Its low density (~3 kg/m²) prevents any excess weight on the roof. Its natural flexibility allows it to adapt to the slight curves of the roof without deformation. Its cross-ply structure ensures good screw retention, even with a thin thickness.

CNC manufacturing using the K0 template

This ceiling is digitally cut in our Breton workshop using the exact K0 platform template. Pre-cuts are engraved on the back of the panels: they indicate the location of the ceiling light, the duct passage, and adaptation for a potential partition—without any measurements required from your side.

The 8 birch squares: why they are included

On the K0 platform, the roof has corner areas where bodywork reinforcements do not allow direct screwing in good conditions. These 8 15 mm birch plywood squares (10×10 cm) are inserted into these corners: glued or pre-screwed in areas without direct reinforcement, they create a solid support point for attaching the ceiling panels.

Installation sequence

1. Insulate the roof (rock wool, sprayed PU, or foam). 2. Position and fix the birch squares in the corners of the roof. 3. Dry-fit the two ceiling panels, adjust the lateral clearances. 4. Screw into the transverse ribs and corner squares with 3.5×25 mm self-drilling screws, spaced ~25 cm apart.

K0 platform compatibility

This ceiling is suitable for all vehicles on the K0 platform: Peugeot Expert 3, Toyota Proace, Opel Vivaro 3 and Fiat Scudo. These vehicles share the same chassis, the same roof reinforcements and the same interior dimensions.

Technical questions

Are birch squares present on other Exokit ceilings? No, they are specific to the K0 platform. Trafic, VW, and Ford ceilings screw directly into the reinforcements without an intermediate part.

What adhesive for the squares? Neoprene adhesive (contact adhesive) or short self-drilling screws (15 mm) in accessible areas.

Can additional openings be drilled in the ceiling? Yes—hole saw for round spotlights, jigsaw for free shapes. The 5 mm poplar cuts easily.
